Meeting with Enterprise Ireland

It’s more important than ever that we do all we can to help enterprises big and small all over Ireland move away from fossil fuel dependency. In my role as Green Party Spokesperson for Enterprise Trade and Employment I set up a meeting for today with Enterprise Ireland CEO Leo Clancy and Sustainability and Climate Action Manager Rowena Dwyer. It was a great meeting, with a specific focus on doing all we can to help businesses reduce their energy demands first and then secondly diversify away from fossil fuels as much as possible.
Among the topics we covered were decent capital investment grants to enable businesses to switch to renewables, training for business mentors to empower them to have the knowledge and tools to best advise businesses re carbon reduction, engaging in biodiversity in businesses, development of indigenous renewables industry, IT Supporting Freight Clever Delivery Systems for route and delivery optimisation and the money which I requested from An Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and was granted in the budget:€22million for Decarbonisation, Digitalisation and Training for the Greening of Business.
