Delighted with the announcement by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan that he is reducing all fares on Bus Eireann and Local Link PSO routes by 20%. Over 800,000 people nationally commute daily on public transport as well as tourists and non-commuting passengers.
I welcome this move by my Green Party Ireland colleague Minister Eamon Ryan in helping to make public transport more accessible and affordable.

As Green Party spokesperson for Rural Development and living in rural Clare I know the importance of public transport in rural Ireland and it is something I work passionately on as a Senator in Government. I am working to increase further the number and the frequency of PSO routes across the county, both Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link Limerick Clare. I welcome the improvements we have already made to these services and look forward to further improvements. I also welcome the additional supports of 50% off for 19-23 year old’s on public transport which will be coming on stream in May.
